A 16- year boy was spared a jail sentence involving a violent home invasion in 2007. An appeal court ruled that the act was a misguided act of chivalry. The teen broke into his girlfriends house with another boy and stabbed her step father and cat because she refused to tell the police of his abuse. The boy decided to take matters into his own hands. The teen has been labeled as a model student, no prior criminal record and deemed a low risk to reoffend.
